This is a light, tasty white that will pair well with fish and vegetables. Castoro is a winery to be reckoned with, as they offer a huge variety of varietals as well as some stunning blends. This Fume Blanc is something everyone can enjoy, and is very nicely priced. Look for this at Trader Joe’s for around $7.00.

Columbia Crest Grand Estates Chardonnay, 2008
This is a very tasty chardonnay with wonderful overtones of butterscotch, oak and vanilla. It’s not as common as it used to be to find chardonnays that are made in this style, so I’m pleased that there’s something out there and readily available that delivers that. You can find this at Trader Joe’s for approximately $7.00. If you’ve had this wine, let me know what you think in the comments section. Enjoy and Happy Tasting!

Cremant de Bourgogne Sparkling Wine
The Cremant de Bourgogne Sparkling Wine is nicely priced at $10, but not the greatest when it comes to flavor. While it tends to be pretty light and crisp, it lacks a great mousse and the refreshing quality that you get with a more light and crisp sparkler. In my humble opinion, this would be better enjoyed as part of a mixed champagne cocktail like a mimosa or a Kir Royale, than on its own. But you don’t have to take my word for it! This one can be found at your local Trader Joe’s, and might not be a bad one to try. Disney’s California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival is back and starts today! For the next month and a half, there will be tastings, mixology classes, pairing dinners, etc. available. Some of these events are free of charge, while others require advanced reservations and have a fee associated with them. Turley 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel
I enjoyed the Turley 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel last night with dinner (April 10, 2010). It paired nicely with some highly flavorful and robustly seasoned salmon, couscous and asparagus. This Zin is beautiful – not too jammy like many zins are these days (not that there’s anything wrong with jammy…). It’s appropriately spicy and peppery, with plum and berry notes interwoven giving it a lovely balance of flavors. It’s great on the nose and finishes nicely, too. I would definitely want to purchase this wine again, but I’m not sure it’s quite worth the money. I also hear the folks at the winery can be snobby, which is a huge turn-off read more…to me. I mean, really…do we need to be full of ourselves?? These reasons knock this from a “5″ to a “4″ rating for me. But if you’ve had a different experience at the winery and/or if you don’t mind snooty folks when you go tasting, then the wine, in and of itself, is lovely. You can find this wine for anything between $50 and $100 depending on where you buy it. Don’t ask me why the price spread is so huge. I have no idea. French 75 Bistro, Laguna Beach
I took my family to French 75 in Laguna Beach for Easter Sunday. Yes, we were there when the land started to rock, roll and sway…It was interesting, to say the least! I’ve visited other locations of French 75, like when they had their Irvine location which is now the Lazy Dog Cafe… but had never been to this adorable little French cottage. Their menu always pleases, and on Easter Sunday, they had a special brunch menu that was absolutely outstanding! May I recommend their souffle to finish off a wonderful dining experience when you visit this place! It’s romantic, has a good wine list, and is perfect for special occasions. Don’t miss this spot next time you’re in Laguna Beach! If you’d like to check out home prices in Laguna Beach, visit the home search section of my website.
